TAG was founded in 1984 by John A. McEwan, MSEE, who is the company’s Owner and Chairman. In 1976 he graduated from the US Naval Academy with a BS in Electrical Engineering then served at sea. John directly supported the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the Current Action Center of the National Military Command Center. In 1985 he received his MS in Electrical Engineering (Optical Computing) from the University of Maryland while assigned to the US Naval Research Laboratory.
TAG’s executive management team is headed by Jim S. McEwan, who is the company’s President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Before joining TAG in 1995, he served on several Finance and Marketing boards for Mazda, SAAB, General Motors and Subaru of America. Jim’s in-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering has propelled TAG as a leader in state-of-the-art information technology solutions for the defense industry. His visionary leadership has been the driving force for TAG’s tremendous growth. Jim studied Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VPI) and serves on TAG’s Board of Directors.
TAG's Operations is headed by John Borden, Executive VP/Chief Operating Officer. Prior to joining TAG, John was Director of Business Development at NAVSYS Corporation, responsible for strategy, marketing and technical sales leadership for advanced military and commercial GPS/INS solutions. John brings the experience of a wide-ranging career that has included managing network operations at the Office of Naval Research (ONR), managing an Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration (ACTD) for DoD to provide information sharing tools to military and civilian first responders, founding a satellite communications company, and managing the development and flight of a physics experiment on the Space Shuttle. He is a recipient of SBA’s Tibbetts Award and a NASA Space Act Award for his work in oceanographic data collection under the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program.
TAG’s research and development is led by Trevor Landon, who is the company's Vice President of Research and Development. Prior to joining TAG in 2004, Trevor was Director of Engineering at SteelCloud, where he led the development of a family of re-usable PC-based security appliances. In his eight years as a Section Manager at Acterna Corporation, Trevor headed a team of engineers in the design and development of several telecommunications products. Trevor earned a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, at the University of Virginia and holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (with Honors) from Lafayette College.
Joining us in 2015 as TAG's Director of Business Development, Matthew Fedowitz brings over 20 years of experience in business development specializing in operations, engineering, construction, and remediation for federal and commercial clients. Prior to joining TAG, Matthew was responsible for assembling and mobilizing project teams for complex programs in remote locations. Matthew earned his Bachelor of Science degree while attending Virginia Military Institute (VMI), and his Master of Business Administration from Loyola University Maryland.
